As the deadline for the debt ceiling agreement approached, there was a sense of urgency to get the matter settled as soon as possible. There must be data and matrix available to avoid the issue in the future. Maybe it’s time to form a committee to avoid the financial market stress that this situation causes. Even while the situation is being resolved, the stock market can experience bond and stock volatility while the treasury builds cash to cover what was lost when they couldn’t borrow anymore.
It is a stressful situation that thankfully might be resolved, at least for now. Let’s work to build the resources we need to maintain our national debt.
